This next image after the fade is a jump cut to where the image is a studio shot of the band centre frame with studio lights in the background. This is good as it makes the band seem mysterious which represents the genre as its indie-rock and the studio lights behind them means you can't see their faces which give an ominous feeling to the video. This is also good as it has influenced my creativity as I can easily replicate this shot in my music video.
The image on the right is good as the shot type is a close up, centre frame of the singer. This also breaks the representation of the mysterious look as the camera pans in and you can see the singers face with the studio lights isn't as covering on their faces. You can see that the costume used in this music video represent the genre. The genre being a mix between country and indie rock and the singer's costume is formal, which suits the county genre and then the formal, but shaggy hair style suits the indie rock genre. The editing used within the scene is that when the singer walks forward towards the camera, he walks with the beat of the foot drum.
The image to the left is a close-up shot of another band member. This is a good image as it's a close up, centre frame image which can be easily replicated in my video. The costume in the shot is good, as its formal and the expression on her face shows true passion and love for her music. That can also be represented by her red lipstick, which is symbolic of passion and love. This could also apply to a journalist, Mulvey as her costume and make-up could be to be for the 'male gaze'.
This image to the right is a side view of the last band member and it's a centre frame. His costume in this shot is again, represents the genre of country and indie rock because he's wearing a fedora with a button up formal shirt which represents the country genre. The editing in this shot is that the camera pans around all the members then finishes on this shot.
The camera in this shot is panning round and this shot is good as it shows the representation of genre as the props used in this shot is an action shot of a piano which represents the country genre. The costume in this shot is also a representation of the country genre as his sleeves are rolled up on his formal shirt. This image has influenced my creativity as its an action shot as well as a close up, which I can easily replicate it in my music video.
This image to the right is a location show which is a change compared to the studio shot which all the other shots are. The shot type in this image is a left of frame shot of the lead singer walking in an ally. This shot shows the costume the lead singer is wearing and that represents the genre by the button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up, this represents that he is confident and relaxed as his shirt has the top buttons undone. This represents the indie rock genre as he doesn't look bothered, which is traditional for the genre. The editing in this image is that the camera is tracking and he is singing into camera, which represents a more personal experience as its as if he's singing to the viewer.
This image is a tracking shot of the lead singer, dancing to the beat which is as if his foot steps are the beat of the song. The setting in this video is that the environment is depressing and gloomy, which sets a melancholy tone to the video but the dancing and the beat of the song uplifts the mood. This has influenced my creativity as the subliminal meanings within the music video, much like this one with the weather setting a tone to the video.
This image is a fantastic image, as it has a teaser of the band's upcoming album in the background as their album cover is the lead singer. The shot type is a location, centre frame of the lead singer resting on the advertisement of their album. This has influenced my creativity and planning as I love the idea of having the album cover within the music video. Also having the singer looking away from the camera as that represents that its a story and not a music video.
On this last shot, it shows the lead singer dancing to the beat which represents that he is causing the beat and rhythm. This shot type is a location shot which is a center frame which pulls focus from the surrounding area to the lead singer. The editing done in this image is tracking of the lead singer down a street while he dances and sings into the camera. His dance slows to a steady pace as the song slows but then picks up when his movement gets faster.
How this has influenced my creativity and planning;
- I like the idea of the use of tracking in my music video.
- The use of artifical light as it produces a pull focus on whoever or whatever it's on.
- The link between the beat of the song and video as it makes it more personal.
